Oracle GRCC install issues - AACG 8.5 / CCG 5.5

By: rekha singh | 15 Feb 2010 3:55 pm

I have a client on the bleeding edge of Oracle GRCC.  See the email below with some current issues.  Please comment if you have any suggestions for them.

I have SRs into Oracle as I can't get some of the reports to run eg., the 'Access Violations by User' report.  I only have one policy setup and even select it as the parameter to narrow down the 'where clause'.  There is also a bug that we generated when cancelling a report with another one queued, where the cancel request will not properly term the job correctly.  <-- even through the back end (status_id).  I've recently deployed the very latest version delivered Friday which brought me to 8.5.1.208 which did not correct these issues so I'm at a stand still.  I can't deploy what I have to production as I'm provisioning and I don't want any unnecessary interruption.  I've applied the following patches thus far:

Patch 9144234                Allowing to Sync Correctly
Patch 9144234                Support for Next Patch
Patch 9239256                Fixed Some Bugs
Patch 9298396                v8.5.1.208 Reporting Bugs

In the meantime I'm attempting to deploy CCG 5.5.1 and receive the following message when running the install.bat, if you have any insight I would greatly appreciate it.  My ORACLE_HOME is correct but...

D:\Oracle CCG Staging\Oracle COnfiguration COntrols Governor 5.5.1\dist\ccg_ 551>
install.bat options -c -d5 -f ccg-551-install. apf
Starting Oracle Installation Engine 1.2.1
Running from working directory D:\Oracle CCG Staging\Oracle Configuration COntrols
Governor 5.5.1\dist\ccg_ 551\
"ORACLE_HOME environment variable points to an environment that does not contain the
required connection software. <classes12.zip or classes12.jar>"

Hi,

When your client runs the Access by User violation report, is it ending it error? If it's successfully completing, and they just aren't seeing the confirmation window, ask them to check: $CATALINA_HOME/ webapps/grcc/ temp for the report. I have noticed that if the conflict report is under 3mb, the confirmation window will not pop-up, but it does run successfully.

Another suggestion, is to use Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher (OBIP) bundled with GRCC 8.5.x media pack. OBIP offers seeded SOD reports that can be easily reconfigured to present the information differently (our end-users found the AACG reports too confusing); a feature that is unavailable within AACG.

Regarding the CCG, it appears the installing computer is a windows machine? Check where $ORACLE_HOME is pointing (echo $ORACLE_HOME) . Typically, on windows machine this will be: C:\oracle\product\ 10.2.0\client_ 1. If it is pointing here then check $ORACLE_HOME\ jdbc\lib for classes12.jar/ classes12. zip. If you don't have these files, I can sent them to you, or you can download them from Oracle.

Good Luck,

Hi,

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I remembered reading that you have to enable the 'Sign On Audit' feature first, before you can then run access violation type reports on users in Oracle Applications.  I found that in the Oracle Application System Administrator Guide - Security, from the Oracle website.  You may have already considered this, but I thought i'd mention it.

Thanks.
