Can we delete old .trw files ?

By: Hari | 06 Sep 2008 2:50 pm

Dear Gurus
I noticed lot of files and folders created in the bdump fodler and most of the files are ending with the *.trw file extension. This files date to begining of the year and I don't know what to do. Is it Ok to delete this files or keep it there. I recently took over this job duties from the previous person and nothing much was transitioned to me and I am learning the stuff as I am digging the files when there are issues.

Any
help is appreciated.

Comments

Take a cold backup and delete trace files in following way.
No harm in deleting the older trace files.
delete the trace files which are older than 2 days for safer side.
IN bdump only alert_sid.log file is important.

Do not deleter any folder.

Do not delete or move any of following file
Important files for oracle:
control files *.ctl- oradata
data files *.dbf - oradata
online redo log files *.log -- oradata
init.ora -- parameter file/spfile. -- in oracle_home
password file - orapwd
alert.log file of bdump.
